Has life shrunk so soon? Seasons changing from spring to autumn!
Some pictures etched on my heart and some forgotten!
In a blink of an eye - an eternity .... in the winds all moments blown!
Each memory has a different hue! How ... oh how time has flown!

These special moments I’ve cherished and prized –
On my heart’s window they are poised.
Will I let them fly and add, to my heart, another stone,
Or should I hold on to them, so I’m never alone!

Opened a box today .... of forgotten smiles,
Of broken hearts and separating miles –
Of coffee warm kisses and cinnamon flavours,
The colours and textures, my heart still savours!

Of honey warm dreams kept on hold –
Of red fiery tastes – entrancing and bold!
Of captivating enchantment and violet vivaciousness,
Of soft soothing sunlight and a pocket full of happiness!

My tree now sees autumn – the yellow, red, russet and brown –
My memories, my treasure, my legacy, my crown!
Sunny rays stream cleansing my soul and moments grieved -
I look at a heart full of soft memories and a life well lived!

I see differences, distance - cracks … shards -

I see shadows of broken hearts!

The wintry icy silence settling in –

Frozen, glassy, cold and shivering –

Feelings in pieces, and we pull apart!

I stumble ! What was it that broke my run

Wonder if I dare to see ….

Dreading the sight of what it could be;

I look down and find all the promises undone by me!

Feeling guilty and remorseful …. And so I burn!

I want to reach out and pull you close,

But why don’t I see my arms move?

My heart knows there is something to prove!

I cry inside but my eyes are frozen cold!

Hoping tears melt this ice and forgive things told!

I turn, I see you, still standing there –

I know you’re strong, mine, but so far away!

Did I bring to ‘Us’, so much distrust and fear?

I see your eyes – tortured, sorrowful, yet clear –

And my eyes let go, of what it held tight, a lone tear!

Your promises and words come to me –

I run back to you …. How can I leave?

I hesitantly touch your hand –

And there in your response, lives my dream!

In your eyes with pain, everlasting love is what I see!

In life and death we will part, and future births we cannot perceive,

But here and now I promise love and trust, and they shall last till eternity!

Every time those icy winters descend on us and make us bleed,

Your strength and support are my anchor, your touch my one reality -

I have full faith in your love and the healing magic it can weave!

The Crescent Moon in Me

I wait for you,

Yes, I wait for you today,

Like that crescent moon;

To make my spirit whole, I pray!

Half I am without you!

My senses fully dormant!

My life moving without a clue!

I feel defenseless – a little infant!!

And then again I look

At the glowing crescent moon-

Isn’t it incomplete only to the human view,

Isn’t it actually complete and whole?

Latent and invisible like the soul!!

My spirit so rests –

Completely at ease!

Though emotions crest!

My heart is at peace!!

I can’t see you physically,

But the presence of your love

Carries and continuously supports me !!

Incomplete, half, lacking and wanting!

The visions blurring, the memories haunting!

But why I wonder should I feel that way!

Your faith and support is with me to stay!

Your love is elixir to my fading and pining soul!

Latent and quiescent – it makes me whole!

A blessing! A prayer answered! A boon!

You mean the world and more to me –
And it seems strange when you don’t see;
My distress, my pain, my sorrow, my insecurities,
My anger, my shadows, my hopes and my impurities!

Distress for all the things that I wish could have been,
No commitments yet I behaved as if they were unseen!
Pain – though I knew it would happen and have no one to blame -
Its true – its real – its horrible - and existing all the same!

Sorrow - for everything imagined and that is not,
For so much given and so much invested that is lost.
Insecurities about where I went wrong and what else could I have given,
Wondering what you really wanted and by what you were driven.

Anger at my helplessness and lack of strength,
Knowing to keep you I may go to any length.
Shadows of the past when I had you close, had you with me,
Memories of time when I had to let you go - set you free.

Hopes that lie shattered on the floor of my bruised and faithful heart,
I still haven’t found the strength to gather them - a place to start.
Impurities within me that make me want you in spite of !!
Am I so selfish – to know – and even then – despite of ?!

All I can say is love knows no bounds, no territories, no limit,
It knows no terror, no command and is governed by the Spirit!
And for all who fall in love there is no rule or regulation!
Its an instinct they follow – a faith – a religion !
So I ask forgiveness for all wrong I do and hope He may absolve!
It may be wrong in the eyes of the world but for me its all for love!!!

My Brilliant Butterfly

Those shimmering wings unfurl,

You are now ready to fly!

So confident, so fearless, so sure …

And I’m rooted with sudden fear,

As you waltz towards the door!

My mind takes a journey, back,

To that wonderful Wednesday,

When the beautiful angel called you,

Was sent to us – the answer to our prayer!

The beautiful eyes, so full of trust,

The tiny hand, curled around my finger!

The dainty feet, that kicked with energy bursts!

The sunshiny unrestrained smile,

That always made me want to linger!

Still remember your first day of school,

How you didn’t want to let my hand go!

You kept peeking out the window –

To see if I was still there – thus reassured!

The dolls, the friends, the hurts, the joys,

The sharing of troubles, the growing out of toys!

Oh! The painful and awkward phases –

The brilliant butterfly finally emerging from the chrysalis!

We stand, the parents proud, today,

Happy, tearful, anxious, yet sure -

Our vibrant and lively butterfly –

Is ready to face the world and find her way!

My hand is doing the clinging now –

Like that little hand, on that long gone day!

You’re my little girl, though all grown –

A mother’s heart wants you to stay!

This radiant beauty standing here –

Dazzling with her radiant smile –

Just waiting to fly and test her wings,

Will always be, at least for me

The little girl that held my hand –

Who needed me for everything!

Go out there and rule the world!

Personal Wasteland That Was

A black, unseeing, isolated, barren place,

Just shadows; of illumination, no trace!!

Asking for nothing – just complete trust!

Memories float around,

Smiles – in the love, new found!!

The shiny place where the hearts visit –

Became our common visiting ground!

The lush green of emotions that you see,

The total filling of that terrible void -

Euthanasia

Life flipped today to a page,

Long lost in the album of life,

Has it really been an age?

Where have all the years taken flight?

Wasn’t too long back when ..

We held hands and hugged the other tight –

Wasn’t too long when love’s sun,

Had shone on us with its brilliant light!!

And then the clouds of reality came,

Gone was the sparkle ; gone the glisten!

The heart felt the searing hot pain,

The eyes rained tears – all in vain!

Today again you walked into my life,

And strange it seemed to see you here!!

All the feelings my heart tried to compile,

Was it confusion or was it fear?

Then I looked at my life today,

And it was like the mist cleared!

My love, my life, my way was here,

Right beside me for all these years!!

True love is he, I know for sure,

He stood by me when no one would!

He held my hand and reality we endured!

He’s my today and solid he stood!!

Looked back to the page life had reopened,

A sad smile was all I could offer as a token!

And my eyes and heart sought the special smile,

That was true and my very life!

I knew not how much more,

It could get scarier and crazier,

All I felt - that the love that was, at last,

Had found peaceful euthanasia!

Why do you always have to be so perfect ..
Why can’t you be like me at times and fret!
Why can’t we be brave and face threats together ….

Immortal Ocean

Life ... so like a river - it begins with gurgles and delight
Moves along growing, changing and collecting -
Some memories .... some people ... on its onward plight ...
Some lives ... some dreams ..... with its flow effecting!!!

On and on it flows – the river, rumbling and splashing,
Along the path it collects debris … some weeds …
We collect memories and ….. some greeds.
Some times its serene sometimes troubled waters show,
So akin to life is the continuous and senseless flow.

At times a waterfall … it falls but doesn’t break –
Those risks and chances are what we take ….
We can’t break … we have to go on … –
We learn from our mistakes …
As to the ocean we make our way!!

Finally the river meets the ocean …
The journey over - the final destination!!
Our soul reaches its ocean .. Our life a mere token –
So many souls in his keeping …..
He keeps us safe …. Our immortal ocean!!

Visited Grounds

No, ofcourse not ! Not for a minute do I doubt your love –

But now and again we visit this place –
Where I need to know –
And you – You blank out without a trace …
And I can't ever make up my mind,
to resolve the issues or let go ….

And then I think of all the times we smiled together –

Woman - a mystery loved

You can’t understand so u criticize her!!!

She loves u unconditionally,

But when she asks the same in return -

And she receives insults and scorn???

Oh man … how frail is your ego …

Why the need to explain … why not just explore –

She’s a series of moods … an exotic garland of feelings –

She’ll give u a reason for living … give life a meaning ..

Why not just let her be and not change her ways –

Why not admire her and give her some praise?

Why not trust her and know she cares –

Why not be her partner and soul mate –

Why try to be one notch ahead –

Why not just be tied in her beautiful threads!!!

We’re two parts of the same little puzzle –

A woman and a man …. The union so subtle –

You the strength … she the support –

A sparkling chain of feelings binds both!!!

We’re powerful together but why can’t we ever see ….

The shared dreams of togetherness and beauty!!

Makes me walk another mile ...
The path is rough ... an inky blackness ....
A piece of rainbow .... a promise of bliss!!!
A shiny moment beckons further ...
Darker clouds begin to gather -
The soul is tired of empty platitudes ...
Lips move but I haven't got a clue.
Feels like nothing ever was true!!!
Lost and wary in the sands and dunes -
Far away a glimmer of light -
Pushes again to end the plight -
No one close - no one hears -
No one it seems to answer prayers!
Endless road no one in sight -
All I follow - that glimmer of light!
A flickering flame in the distant horizon ..
I rise from the dust - let go of the past!
Feel the soul empty all the poison ....
Break the shackles .... moving quickly ... moving fast ...
Chains still hold me .... binding me tight ....
What makes me wade ? That glimmer of light!!!
The glimmer is what inspires to break the chains and rope ....
The piece of rainbow, the flickering flame , the glimmer of light ... is eternal hope!!

Wanted it to be - but did naught!!

The morning dull - the sky is grey,

A beginning to another withered day!!!

I see a woman in the mirror -

Do i know her ... i do recognize her!

She used to be happy and full of cheer,

Now the lips droop and eyes are full of despair!

Who is it .... do i know you?

I'm scared the answer is going to be yes ....

Afraid and scared to accept the truth -

To see and believe what is left of me - a waste!!

Who stands there in the battered frame?

I answer to ther very same name ...

How have i managed to do this?

I'm breathing but i do not live!!

When did it happen .... when did the burdens get so heavy?

When did i turn into this woman so dreary?

Where is the sparkle ... the twinkle ... the shine ...

When was the laughter and joy replaced by this monotonous whine?

Where i wonder is the will to live ....

I know i still have a lot to give!!

Who has done this to me -

Why do i feel tired and old?

It must have been me , if truth be told ...

No one has the power to torture another soul!!

I will find the courage to be -

I will turn into 'me' again -

All lives deal with misery here -

Why should I be the only one to complain!!

I will stand up - live and smile again -

The sun has just risen - its a bright and sunny day!!!

Sapne khuli aankhon se dekho
Sapnon ke liye neend kaisi-

Kavita khud banjayegi humse
Kavita ke liye neend kaisi-

Phoolon ki kahani baagon mein hogi
Baagone mein jaake neend kaisi-

Pyar ka tarana hum dono ka hoga
Hum dono ke beech mein neend kaisi -

Tum aur main aur tanhai -
Itne shor mein neend kaisi :)

The best gift one could ever receive .... a version offered by a very special friend!! This is the best compliment that anyone could have given .... am humbled!!!

Sweetly smothered by them, shall you sleep?

The sight of bright stars shall keep you awake
Looking upon them, how can you sleep?

Sitting close to me, my fragrance shall fill your senses;
Losing your sense, how shall you sleep!

Dream on, eyes, wide open-
For then, why sleep, to dream?

When we become, in our togetherness, sheer poetry
Shall we sleep, for creating poetry?

Flowers whisper their lore enticingly in gardens-
Sleep shall not be found in gardens too!

When we become the rhythm and music of love
Where shall sleep then find a place, between us?

You and I in sheer isolation-
Sleep? In this pandemonium of beautiful silence?

Can you set afire my heart’s desires?
Can you see all those dreams for which it aspires?
Do you think its important that I don’t see things through logic?
My heart’s desires are natural – spontaneous and almost always frolics!

Do you think its stupid to feel things so intensely?
My heart’s desires, I know, always want things completely!
Do you think I’m being demanding, selfish and self-centred?
If my heart desires equal returns from any relations I entered?

Do you think its madness and absolute insanity?
To try and lose my grip on painful reality?
Do you think its idiotic, crazy and nonsensical,
To wish that life be merry, joyful, happy and musical!!

Do you think its fantastical, hopeless and impossible,
To wish for my life’s one and only dream to be plausible?
Do you think its really absurd, wishful and foolish of me,
To refuse to acknowledge things that my heart doesn’t want to see?

Do you think I put the blame on others?
When I try to explain away something that bothers?
Do you really wish me gone and vanished?
Maybe I’ve suffocated you with affection I lavished!

Do you want me to stop giving all the attention?
Maybe I’m getting to be your life’s major tension!
Do you think you could save me from myself?
Even though I’m too proud to ask for help?

Do you think you could pull me closer to you?
Because my withdrawal is making life miserable and blue!
Do you think I’m being a cling on and a burden?
If so I’ll go and not let your miseries lengthen!

Do you think you could talk to me once again?
And please can it be done without constraints and refrain?
Do you think you could kiss me and hold me?
Or if I repulse you, wouldn’t it be better if you told me?

Do you think my demands are not wanted or appreciated?
Maybe answers for my queries have not yet been created?
Do you think you could answer all these questions?
I know it will require a lot of time and patience …
But could do me this last little favour …..
(And I hope this relation doesn’t leave a bitter flavour)

They keep you awake - for I lie too,

When sleep returns and in peace we'll be -

Brings to you his each and every plea !
It gives a special glow that surrounds ...
That someone waits for ur every sound.

Your smile, your sigh,your heartbeat, your glance ....
Are enough to put him in a trance!
It brings a silver lining to every day-
That someone adores ur every way.

Its a really humbling experience to feel,
That some one - for u bows down and kneels,
To pray that u get all life's happiness,
Makes u feel like a total princess!

Feeling loved is a wonderful feeling!
It almost always leaves u reeling!

Pain

Pain unchecked, unsoothed, unabated,
In each person's life so clearly stated.
Unending, continuous, everflowing and large,
It never ever knocks, it always does barge!
Desperate measures to curb it...in vain...
Life's inseparable partner...definitely pain!
Creation's counterpart destruction is pain...
Anything hurts the eyes they rain .
Our hearts are crazy. . . the emotions they trouble...
Reduce our imaginary castles to rubble!
We think .. we imagine .. we desire .. we dream...
We lose .. we deny .. we cry and we scream!
We try to hide from the dragons before us,
We wish for the fog of ignorance to cocoon us.
And despite all warnings . . . despite all constraints...
Our heart accepts only the picture that itself paints!

Nothing to prove

Have you ever tried to hide ….
What exists there – deep inside?
The pain, the insecurities, the feelings, the terror,
Hold you, torture you and chain you forever!

Its like someone is holding you against your will,
You want to let your feelings show …. yet …. but … still!!!
You cant do it – what will the others think?
That maybe, they’ll just let u go – and gone is the link!!!

You want so desperately for them to understand you …
But when it comes to that, they don’t share your point of view!
Again you try to hide in your shell,
Forget and leave behind what you did tell.

You build a wall around so that people don’t hurt you.
Or is it because you want to stop feelings that are true?
If you don’t feel how will it hurt?
And you’ll be what – a free bird???

Your friends watch you and they say you’re changing,
But how can you help it, they don’t know what you’re feeling!!!
Maybe its because you haven’t told them what you want them to know,
Maybe its because you think your dependence on them will grow?

Maybe you think they just don’t give a damn …
Maybe you think its one big beautiful sham ….
Then you see everything you thought was yours, slipping from your hands,
Its going to be over – no asking – no begging – no taking – no demands!!

Your perfect world all upside down – all around you in shambles,
You try to remake it, thinking its one of life’s gambles …
Its all slipping away …. Too late …. Too soon?
Was it wishful thinking …. A trip to the moon????

Smiles gone, replaced by tears, happiness now replaced by fears,
A relation replaced by broken hearts, something gone – that was built in years!!!
You think again – is the dream worth giving a try again?
Whether it deserves going through the tears and pain?

But you know love is a fool and you’ll again take the chance,
You know you’ll ignore logic and enter the ethereal trance ,,,
Yes, the dream is definitely worth giving a try again,
Because in the end its your heart that counts, not your brain.

Your heart is going to help you survive – fair or unruly weather,
And love will sustain you – be it from a friend, family or lover!
Ultimately when you look at it – love is most important to you –
Its just a feeling that surrounds – you have nothing to prove!
